A BIG BIRTHDAY FOR YOUR MOM.>>YES, GOTTA SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOM. HOW ABOUT THAT CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO? WE THOUGHT WE’D HAVE A SHOT AT SITTING ON THE POLE. WE ENDED UP THIRD. THE TRACK CHANGED DURING THE DAY. WE GOT THE PRACTICE YESTERDAY UNDER CLOUDY CONDITIONS AND TODAY THE SET BEFORE THE LAST SET OF TIRES, THE TRACK SEEMED LIKE IT TIGHTENED UP. I TOLD BRIAN WE GOTTA LOOSEN IT UP. HE LOOSENED IT UP AND THE LAST SET OF TIRES WAS AWESOME. GOT TO THANK CELLULAR ONE, KLEENEX. ESPECIALLY ED EVANS. HIS WIFE IS FIXING TO HAVE A BABY ANY TIME.>>Matt: DID YOU QUESTION THE SHORT PITTING CALL?>>NO, I’VE LEARNED I DON’T QUESTION. I JUST TELL HIM WHAT’S GOING ON. IF WE END UP LOSING A RACE BY SHORT PITTING ONE DAY, SO BE IT. WE END UP WINNING ONE TODAY. I THOUGHT I GOT MY HAT’S OFF TO GREG BIFFLE. HE DID A HECK OF A JOB. WE GOT A LEAD ON HIM. I KNOW HE WAS COMING. HE HAD TO PUSH HIS STUFF AS HARD AS IT COULD GO BECAUSE I WAS RUNNING MINE AS HARD AS I COULD. HE JUST RUN OUT OF ROOM THERE. BUT WHAT A GREAT DAY.>>Matt: CONGRATULATIONS, JOE NEMECHECK PICKS UP HIS TENTH CAREER WIN. TELL US ABOUT THE CLOSE OF THE RACE.>>THE GUYS GAVE ME A GREAT CAR. THE GRAINGER FORD TAURUS WAS AWESOME. THE GUYS WORKED REAL HARD. AND 15 LAPS TO GO I WAS GIVING IT ALL IT’S WORTH. THAT’S WHAT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE TO CATCH NEMECHECK. GOING INTO TURN THREE, GOT A LITTLE HIGH JUST GETTING GREEDY WITH 15 TO GO. WE GOT IN THE FUZZ AND GOT AWAY FROM ME. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO WRECK BIG. I DID WRECK BIG BUT WAS ABLE TO KEEP GOING. THE ENGINE RUN REALLY STRONG TODAY. THE WRONG GEAR LAST WEEK AT VEGAS AND TODAY IT RAN REALLY GOOD. I JUST WISH WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN VICTORY LANE. I FEEL BAD FOR THE GUYS.>>Steve: GREG BIFFLE DID A FANTASTIC JOB HANGING ON BECAUSE THE AIR IS LEAKING FROM THAT RIGHT FRONT TIRE.>>Mike: HIGH MARKS FOR BIFFLE WHO HAS A THIRD AND TWO SECONDS IN HIS LAST THREE RACES. AND MICHAEL WALTRIP IN EIGHT APPEARANCES HERE JUST NOTCHED HIS SECOND TOP THREE FINISH. DICK BERGGREN?>>Dick: HE HAS BEEN DEBRIEFING WITH HIS CREW CHIEF. EXCUSE ME MIND IF I GET IN THERE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING RUN SO LONG HARD ON SUCH A FAST RACETRACK, YOU BOUNCE HER OFF THE WALL?>>JUST GREEDY. MY CAR WAS SO GOOD AS THE LAPS WORE ON BUT I GAVE UP TOO MUCH ON THE START. THAT’S WHAT WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT. ALL THIS TEAM HAS DONE A GREAT JOB. JERRY, RONNIE SILVER, GLEN. I’M REAL PROUD TO SHOW THEM THEY’RE SMART. AND THEY CAN BUILD A FAST CAR. AND I KNEW I WAS IN TROUBLE, DICK, EARLY WHEN I SHOWED THEM THE GROOVE. I SAID, SOMEBODY’S GONNA BITE ME WITH THAT. AND A COUPLE OF THEM DID.>>Dick: HOW BAD DID IT AFFECT THE HANDLING WHEN YOU BOUNCED IT OFF THE WALL?>>IT WASN’T AS GOOD AS IT WAS EARLIER BUT IT WASN’T TOO BAD. IT DIDN’T REALLY KNOCK ANYTHING OUT OF WHACK TOO BADLY. THE AARON’S DREAM MACHINE WAS JUST SO MUCH FUN TO DRIVE EARLY. AT THE END IT WAS A LITTLE TIGHT AND COME PUTTING A LITTLE PRESSURE ON TODD AND I’LL BE DARNED IF HE DIDN’T RUN INTO THE WALL. IT’S REAL TOUGH TO RUN THAT CLOSE TO THE WALL. I SAW TODD THREE OR FOUR TIMES THROWING UP GRAVEL WHEN HE’D GO IN THE TURN. I SAID, THAT MADE ME FEEL GOOD BECAUSE I SAID I’M NOT UP THAT HIGH AND HE DIDN’T CRASH.>>Dick: LET’S GO TO STEVE BURNS.>>Steve: WITH TODD BODINE WHOSE WIN STREAK COMES TO AN END. YOU SAID YOU CAME IN FIFTH BUT YOU SCREWED UP. THAT DOESN’T SOUND RIGHT.>>YEAH, DRIVER ERROR. WE WERE THIRD COMING TO GET THE WHITE FLAG AND I WAS RACING MICHAEL TRYING TO KEEP HIM BEHIND ME AND I GOT UP TOO HIGH. SCRUBBED THE WALL. COST US TWO POSITIONS. DRIVER ERROR. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THIRD. AND I JUST MESSED UP.>>Steve: THANKS, TODD, GOOD RUN.>>THANKS.>>Chris: SO JOE NEMECHECK CELEBRATES WHILE TALLADEGA HAS HIS THIRD TOP FIVE FINISH IN THREE RACES, A FIFTH TO GO WITH TWO WINS.>>Larry: THAT EXTRA 12 MILES COST A COUPLE OF THOSE GUYS.>>NEMECHECK, BIFFLE, MICHAEL WALTRIP, GREEN. BIFFLE AND GREEN DID BATTLE FOR THE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. TODD BODINE.>>WE DIDN’T TALK ABOUT JEFF GREEN WHICH DOESN’T HAPPEN MUCH IN A BUSCH NATIONAL RACE. HE FINISHED IN THE TOP FIVE, HIS FIRST TOP TEN FINISH HERE. BEST BEING 11TH BEFORE.>>NICE RUN FOR JIMMIE JOHNSON AND TONY RAINES FINISHING UP IN THE TOP TEN. A LOOK BACK THROUGH THE FIELD. NEXT WEEK IT’S ON TO DARLINGTON. THE TRACK TOO TOUGH TO TAME.>>IF WE SAW TSE CARS AT DARLINGTON NEXT WEEK WITH THE SIDES ALL CAVED IN ON THEM, THAT’S WHAT DARLINGTON, WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT THE DARLINGTON STRIPE. WITH THE TIRE SITUATIONS, HARDER TIRES THEY’RE RUNNING ON, WE MAY SEE THAT A LOT OF RACES.>>THESE CARS, ALL THEY NEED DO IS REPLACE THE DECALS, THEY’RE READY TO GO TO DARLINGTON. THEY ALREADY HAVE THE STRIPE.>>BUTT NEW CARS TIRES AND NEW DECALS GO DOWN TO DARLINGTON.>>ONLY 29 OF 43 STARTERS RUNNING AT THE FINISH.>>WE ALWAYS SAY IT’S A TRACK TOO TOUGH TO TAME. I USED TO KID THEM IT’S TOO TOUGH TO PAVE I THINK. THE PAVEMENT WAS WORN OUT.>>LET’S MEET OUR NEW POINT LEADER.>>Jeanne: YOU’RE THE NEW POINTS LEADER. FOUR RACES, FOUR TOP TEN FINISHES. YOU JUST KEEP GOING, JEFF.>>TOP FIVES ARE GREAT FOR US. BUT WE WANT TO GET IN VICTORY LANE. HAROLD AND THE GUYS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON PIT ROAD AND GETTING MY TAURUS BETTER TODAY. IT WAS ABOUT AS GOOD AS WE COULD GET IT ON THE END. JUST LOW ON TRACK POSITION BUT VERY PROUD OF THEM. WE’RE GOING TO GET VICTORY LANE SOONER OR LATER. WHEN YOU CAN’T GET THERE THE TOP FIVE IS WHAT WE’RE AFTER. DW AND THEM GUYS, IT’S LIKE DARLINGTON. I CANNOT BELIEVE IN ATLANTA WE’RE RUNNING UP AGAINST THE FENCE BUT IT WAS A FUN RACE FOR ME AND JUST A FUN TIME FOR US TODAY.>>Jeanne: CONGRATULATION. THEN WE’LL DO DARLINGTON FOR REAL.>>Chris: THANK YOU, JEANNE. ONLY 14 CARS DID NOT FINISH. THIS WAS LIKE A BAD EPISODE OF SURVIVOR. JEFF HAMMOND, MARTY HOUSTON AND SAUTER GET TANKLED UP AND A ROUGH WRECK.>>Jeff: 61 COMES OFF THE WALL, 98 DRILLS HIM. FORTUNATELY BOTH DRIVERS WALK AWAY.>>Chris: AS WE GET ANOTHER LOOK AT ELTON SAWYER WEARING THE HANS DEVICE. HERE’S GREG BIFFLE WITH A PASS ON LAP 131, TAKES THE LEAD. AND THEN LATER, MICHAEL WALTRIP PASSING NEMECHECK. MICHAEL ACTUALLY LED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN THIS RACE BUT ANOTHER KEY PIT STOP FOR NEMECHECK.>>Jeff: PIT STOPS WERE THE KEY. THEY SHORT STOPPED, GOT THE LEAD. THEY NEVER LOOKED BACK.>>Chris: AND JOE NEMECHECK GOES ON TO WIN THE TENTH CAREER VICTORY IN THE BUSCH SERIES. HE’LL BE IN THE RACE TOMORROW THE WINSTON CUP RACE HERE IN ATLANTA. LET’S LOOK AT THE POINTS TO THE MOMENT.>>Chris: COMING UP, THE FINAL TUNE-UP, WINSTON CUP RACING.
