Welcome to Hydraulic Press Channel Today we are going to crush some metals We have this aluminium cube and these pieces of copper I think we are going to start with the aluminium one, I think it’s easier Yeah now everything is ready And first one is aluminium cube And I think we have two possible outcomes I give about 75% that we are going to just make aluminium pancake and 25% for some kind of explosion [Anni]: Explosion! Explosion! Explosion! Yeah, let’s hope for the explosion [Anni]: Oh oh! Uuh, looks like pancake And then the smaller copper piece And then the larger copper piece And because we have now 3 of these pancakes, and one is a bit different color we decided to make this metal hamburger [Anni]: Ooh! So we have copper buns and aluminium steak And now I give 25% of everything going to shit and hamburger explodes So here we go! Oh oh! Holy fucking shit, I think it is going to explode! Oh no it’s bending, I cannot continue The hamburger was getting a bit uneven and if I would continue, our press would probably be damaged, so I had to stop there but it was so close to explode!
[Anni giggles] Yeah but I think we are going to now open the blast shield and look at our hamburger Yeah here is the hamburger and the aluminium steak Was really close to explode and look how shiny this is [Anni]: Wow! Almost like mirror and… Yeah this aluminium part is in… You can see here If these cracks would be like together Then it would be like *psshhfftt* explode away from there and we would have excellent bang, but no it was like sliding on some directions, so This was going to go like *fftt* there and it isn’t very good because then this is going to bend and be damaged and the lower one is also quite interesting Yeah, I think this aluminium copper thing was quite good idea, and maybe we should try to get that FLIR thermal camera here again and do this with those because these are quite warm, maybe it’s hard to say, maybe 50 degrees Celsius or something like that Yeah and go check our white hot tungsten videos to see even hotter things Link is in description and endscreen Yeah but I think that is all for today Thank you for watching, and have a nice day And for today’s extra content We have this weird green man that is suggested by our viewers I have no idea is it…is it even dangerous?   2. High purity annealed aluminium is soft enough to be squashed by normal finger pressure alone. I have done it myself! The process of deformation creates dislocations and grain boundaries that result in work hardening.

  10. Next time get 3 of same size so when you press you can center and don't slide… Also it looks like you chromed the copper with Al

  11. if you had anneal after a few hits with the press, im sure you could have done a much better job at making the metal samich

  12. make 2 of the aluminum ones but heat one of them to near melting then let it cool. send them to taofledermaus and he can see if the work hardening provided any significant bullet resistance

  13. You should shoot these videos crushing solid metal objects and use your flir or an infrared thermometer, I’d like to see the temp change while being pressed
