DIY Bimetal Cup Coaster. Aluminum + Copper Casting

  1. Unfortunately you can"t weld copper to aluminum but there are 2 things you could have done to make them stick better. First, cast the inner part first, metal shrinks when it cools so if you cast the aluminum around the copper it will shrink and grab the copper. Second, after you cast the copper use a dremmel or a grinder to cut a valley around the edge, the aluminum will flow into it and lock the two together.

  2. Nice video, I really love the way it turned out. Ben D is right about firstly casting copper core, but this is where it gets more complicated.. I am sure you will figure something out for next bimetal casting project 😉 Thumbs up 😉

  3. That's pretty bloody cool man 👍🏻. I know how hard it is melting copper with gas and your doing it with your set up that very impressive mate well done . And to the dog that gave you a thumbs down they don't deserve to watch your vids.😉.
