DIY: Easy Bracelets using Drinking Straws – Recycling Project

Hey guys! Did you know that you can use drinking straws not only for drinking your favourite soda or milkshakes? But also for making colourful braceltes that are perfect for summer? They are so fun and easy to make, you won’t believe it! and today I’m going to show you how to make them so you can make them For this project you are going to need nylon thread in the colour of your choice A few drinking straws in the colour of your choice as well I used normal plastic straws I had at home And you will also need scissors, a marker, a ruler and some tape Start by dividing the straw into sections using your ruler and marker I measured out 1 cm, but you can measure out any length you want If you have that, go ahead and cut the straw into pieces using the guidelines we just created I cut off about 20-25 pieces of straw after that, cut off your nylon thread at about 1 meter or more so you have enough thread to work with Then fold the thread in half and secure the fold with some tape to your desk Now we can finally start creating the bracelt First take one side of the thread and pull it through the straw from one side like a bead Then do the same with the other side of the thread And then pull everything tight Be sure to make the loop at the top not too wide as this is going to be a part of the closure Now you just need to repeat this step until your bracelet is long enough for your wrist Pull one side of the thread through the straw and then do the same with the other side It doesn’t matter what side you are going to start with and if the string should be below or above, so don’t worry about that Every way works fine! If you want to leave space between each straw piece for your design, you can do that of course But if you get uneven gaps in between and you don’t like it, you can carefully pull everything together by moving one piece at a time towards the top And as soon as the bracelet is long enough, secure the end with a knot Now you can either create a closure that you can open and close You can add a bigger piece of straw the same way as we did with the bracelet part and secure it with some knots This way you can pull it through the loop and wear it like that Or you can just secure both ends with a few knots since the bracelet is pretty elastic be sure to make knots that are strong enough so the bracelet doesn’t open accidently And maybe you know a pretty cool knot technique that is absolutely secure You can make the braceltes how ever you like You can use drinking straws in 2 different colours Cut the pieces a lot smaller Or mixed 2 different sizes together So basically you can experiment and create your own favourite bracelet! And if you are going to recreate these bracelets, be sure to share picture with me! I would really love to see them!
