How I Clean 925 Sterling Silver Jewelry – Silver Dip Jewellery Cleaning

Hi, Cons here. In this video, I’m going to talk about how I clean my sterling silver jewelry. Jewelries are part of our everyday fashion and some of these are made up of sterling silver. Over time, sterling silver jewelry piece exposed to air tarnish. Sterling silver is made up of 92.5 silver and 7.5 other metals. It’s the other metals, primarily copper, that cause sterling silver to tarnish. The copper reacts to moisture and sulfur in the air, causing the tarnishing reaction. Silver tarnishes faster in areas with high humidity and air pollution. This is an example, it’s a magnetic ear stud. You can see the frame is blackish, it’s oxidized and tarnished So all it needs is a sterling silver dip and I will be showing to you that later on. So any chemicals that we use everyday like hair spray, body lotion, bleach, perfumes, deodorants, and so on can speed up the tarnishing process. Right, so… we’re going to start with the cleaning process. I’m wearing a surgical gloves for protection. I have with me a surgical scissor to hold the stud. I have three studs here, all tarnished – black framed. And of course, the important is this silver dip. This is what we use in cleaning our jewelries. It’s mainly for cutleries use, but it works also in cleaning jewelries. I have with me a cup of clean water for cleaning after dipping the stud into the silver deep, and wipes to dry the studs. Okay, so let’s start. We start with this pink magnetic ear stud. It is made of sterling silver. It’s been displayed for about two years in the warehouse and over time they tarnished. You can see the color, it’s the tarnished. It is turning brown and then soon it will turn blackish in color…, okay. There you go, as you can see. Right, now I’m going to dip into this silver dip solution. It only takes few seconds to clean because it’s solid sterling silver. Okay, that’s three to four seconds… Okay, you can see the difference… It’s now color silver. So to achieve the complete shine, we dip it into the clean water, and then use this cleaning wipe to completely get rid of the tarnish. So it’s see shiny now We managed to get rid of the tarnish, especially on the side of the frame. It’s back to its original color. So we put back into its the original packaging Okay done. So we move to the jet black ear stud. You can see it’s starting to tarnish It’s not completely tarnished, just starting So you can see this part here is turning brown light brown especially the side of the frame. Okay, so this is what we’re going to clean. Okay, dip into the silver dip, leave it for three to four seconds. This is much easier to clean because it’s a solid sterling silver unlike the silver plated which can be difficult, so it needs some time to dip into this silver dip chemical. Okay, so we wash it with this clean water, then wipe with the cleaning wipe. This is one of the magnetic stud that we cleaned earlier using the silver dip. As you can see that shine is back. Okay, so let’s put it on… It’s easy to wear because it’s magnetic. All you have to do is to put the back magnet fastening and it clips on its own. Right. So this is how it looks like Okay, so that’s all about the magnetic stud and about cleaning the tarnished is sterling silver. I hope that this video is helpful to you, please keep on watching and don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching. Bye
