Sagging skin? | TOP 5 Skincare tips to boost ELASTIN!

Sagging skin? | TOP 5 Skincare tips to boost ELASTIN!

Everyone welcome back to my channel if you’re new here. My name is penny I am a master esthetician in Portland, Oregon and I’m excited that you’re here today you guys because we’re gonna talk about five things five Components to a skincare regimen that can make the most impact on our aging mature skin I will link studies in the description box. There will be a few pop ups. Of course. I’m back in my office I’ve got my computer here in front of me because I want to share with you some of this kind of exciting information That I feel like when used in concert Can really have a strong impact on our aging skin Now this video is in collaboration with my friend and from the channel and P makeup and more. You guys don’t know Annie I hope that you will click the link in the description box. There will also be a link in my first comment down below I hope you’ll check out her video. She Gives the most real-world down-to-earth advice for limit your woman I think that any of you who are of my age or older will appreciate her just real world Honest advice. I know I do not to mention if you are somebody like me that listens to YouTube in the car she’s a very soothing voice and it’s um one of those youtubers that I really like to listen to and not just watch but Listen to so if you’re one of those people you definitely want to check out her channel as well if you’re here from Anne’s channel I hope that you will consider sticking around because we talked about all kinds of skincare and some makeup around here as well But it’s just my jam. It is totally my jam So I put together a 5 component kind of regimen for you guys. This is not product specific I knew right away when we decided on this kind of topic that I wasn’t going to make it product specific I know that some of you out there are going to be looking for specific product recommendations I’m gonna put the things that I like in the description box But I’m not going to talk about them specifically in this video because that’s not what’s super important The processes are more important the way that I kind of came about this idea of doing this this way is The treatment room when I do a consultation with somebody that I am meeting for the first time, you know Of course, I have them fill out consultation forms, and then we sit and chat and I always ask people okay, give me the top two or three concerns, you know for your skin and Usually what people will say to me is that they’re concerned with you know, dullness maybe dehydration dryness lackluster skin hyperpigmentation But what I get all the time is sagging skin. I Hear that all the time from the ladies that I see that are my age and older they’re starting to notice or they are Definitely noticing sagging of the jowl area Maybe the neck area and that bothers them more than anything else and I’m curious if you feel the same way I completely get it We will talk and agree that a few fun lines Aren’t that big of a deal but when your face starts to look like it’s melting that ages you more than anything what I want to talk about and focus on you guys is sagging skin and So let’s get into it. First of all, it’s important to setup that We got to move out the old in order to reveal the new when we are children we turn over our cells so fast, it’s every few weeks two to three weeks, and we’ve got a new set of You know new set of skin looking out at the world. That’s why it looks so beautiful fresh plump bouncy it’s it’s brand-new skin every two or three weeks when we are little kids as We age by the time we’re fifty five to six weeks before it turns over it slows way down so we do things to encourage it to speed along like micro needling for collagen induction and you know, maybe Microdermabrasion stuff like that, but what you can do at home is number one You want to make sure that you are using alpha hydroxy acids? That is number one in this list of five and in particular I suggest glycolic acid, which is a small molecule That is going to give you the most bang for your buck the most Anti-aging but it is also more irritating then the other option my in my opinion which is lactic acid I love lactic acid if you’ve been here for a while, you know that it’s a larger molecule It is also a humectant and it’s just more gentle So if you’re new to alpha hydroxy acids, I definitely suggest that you consider lactic now both of these alpha hydroxy acids are going to do a similar thing and that they’re going to kind of Break down the glue between those dead cells that are just hanging out on the surface of our skin And once that happens those cells are able to lift off more easily Revealing something new beneath it Now the other thing that we don’t talk about very often is not only do we get that surface exfoliation but a signal is sent into our deeper skin layers saying hey produce more collagen and elastin and You know move some new stuff forward So it’s not just the getting rid of the old that we want to you know, expedite it moving along It’s the signal that is sent down deeper to produce more new. That’s super super important Now that’s number one alpha hydroxy acids number two in this Five-part regimen it’s going to be your vitamins now in particular vitamin A and vitamin C now vitamin A Of course is gonna be your retin-a. It’s gonna be your retinaldehyde It’s gonna be your retinol and for me, I’m loving retinaldehyde. I love it for many reasons I think that it is easy to get you don’t need a prescription It is less irritating than retin-a, but it is stronger than retinol It’s just a really wonderful form of the vitamin and I find that more people are able to tolerate retinaldehyde and get that dose of vitamin A now vitamin A helps with Remodeling the skin it also helps with collagen synthesis, which is huge. Of course, it also helps to retrain our cells To behave more properly to behave more like they are it is an essential vitamin in kind of this fight against aging if you will in our skin and I definitely suggest retinaldehyde now the other vitamin that is super important is vitamin C vitamin C when done Topically is an antioxidant, of course It’s going to help protect us against oxidative stresses, but it does more than that you guys it also does help Copper peptides, which we’re going to talk about in a minute to bind more tightly collagen strings so vitamin C does more than just produce a glow and Help to you know, protect us against the Sun that kind of stuff it plays an integral role in collagen formation and tightening the skin Something else that I’m going to suggest with vitamin C and this is something that you need to speak with a health care provider Make sure that there’s no contraindications in your own personal case, but is to consider ingesting vitamin C 500 milligrams a day That can greatly help your skin as well because it helps that copper. We don’t talk about copper peptides too often I know I haven’t spoken about them a lot on this channel, but guys they are the anti-aging linchpin as far as I’m concerned, they are right up there with retinoic acid and They definitely have a great impact a studied impact on the collagen and elastin synthesis in our skin they have a profound impact on the tightness of our skin and They definitely can help to kind of change the gene expression In our skin now an analogy that I thought was really really interesting that I read in a book that I will cite in the description box is our skin is like the keys of a piano and When you first get the piano and it’s all tuned it can play beautiful music Right, but as you go along as the years go on, let’s say the keys get out of tune They don’t play as beautiful of a song that is like our skin our skin Plays a beautiful tune when our children but as we grow older and we are damaged from you know Just life from the Sun and from environmental stressors and from other things like our poor diet Or maybe we smoke or drink all of those things have an effect on our piano keys and what copper peptides can do is they can actually change that gene expression and tune our skin get our our piano back to playing a Beautiful melody again. So copper peptides are integral if you want to tighten your skin and they work hand in hand with some of those vitamins and Definitely just are a piece of the puzzle that I don’t think gets talked about as much as it should Okay, so we have our vitamins. We have our alpha hydroxy acids We have our copper peptides and now the fourth thing is going to be hydration and moisture and I’m going to suggest to you to specifically look for squalene squalene is a Emollient. That is very very good at helping to retain moisture in the skin and our skin recognizes it and it’s very very helpful Now we talked a lot about like higher ilanic acid and things like that. And those are all great But we also mean something that will help to keep those Humectants keep that water in the skin and squalene is one of them squalene is just an effective Moisturizer and it’s also an antioxidant it is used in wound care and I just think for the maturing person who is going to use alpha hydroxy acids and any vitamin a derivative any of these things that can kind of be Irritating squalene to me is one of those key ingredients that can really make a huge Difference not only in the way that your skin looks because it will look more hydrated and more plumped and more supple but truly in Trapping in water and keeping that dermis healthier So squalling is number four number five is going to be led now led is super exciting you guys for multiple reasons, but number one is that led can really affect the elasticity of our skin as we grow older our elastin fibers can get kind of a film a Gluey film on them that causes them to have less bounce. They they have less elasticity as we get older which is part of the reason why we experience sag our skin isn’t able to bounce back if you lift it up the skin on your hand as you Get older. It doesn’t kind of bounce back as fast. That is the degradation of elastin Led is actually shown to help remove that gluey surface off of elastin fibers Which obviously will help them to kind of get their bounce back Which in turn is going to help with firmer skin the other thing about LED you guys and I’m talking about red and near-infrared LED is that what it does is it causes the cells in our skin to produce something called? Adenosine triphosphate you guys have probably heard that on this channel before it is also known as ATP It is a life source of our cells well Our fibroblasts actually use that ATP to produce collagen and elastin So LED is non-invasive. It is very very pleasant It is something that you can do in your own home You can obviously get in office treatments as well But you can do this at home And not only are you helping to kind of give your elasticity back to your skin? but you’re also helping feed those fibroblasts that energy that they need to produce collagen and elastin so LED is one of those treatments that while it is slow and Subtle, it is actually very very profoundly effective on the tightening of yours skin not just collagen production, but elastin the quality of the elastin fibers and the number and Production of elastin in our skin put all of these things together you guys and not only are you gonna affect this sagging of your skin But you’re also going to help with the dullness and the dryness and the luminosity of your skin All of these things are being addressed at the same time that we are Trying to address the sagging and I gotta tell you the more and more I study copper peptides you guys to me. It should be a non-negotiable Now I’m super excited to be putting this video out today on a Wednesday because I have not filmed my Friday Q&A yet So I’m sure that there will be questions this was a huge topic and I just skimmed the surface to give you those five components of an effective mature kind of attack on our skin, you know Let’s let’s get in there and really fight for our skin So if you have questions leave them down below and I will try and address them when I film the Friday Q&A tomorrow and Hopefully then we can have a really good conversation about this particular Regimen now. I hope you guys will check out a nice video. I hope you enjoyed this video Like I said, this is skimming the surface there’s so many more details to each one of these components But I wanted to give you guys just an overview so that you have kind of a framework of a potential skincare plan if Sagging skin is something that bothers you as much that bothers me and a lot of my clients I hope you guys have a fantastic day and I hope you will join me in the Friday Q&A I will talk to you again very very soon. Take care

  1. Best vit c is ascorbic acid but it ruins peptides in serum best used at different times. True or false? I was told so by the Ordinary shop assistant. Check website

  2. Ok Ms Penny here are my questions:

1st-Does The Miracle Age Repair Toner from Thank You Farmer take the place of the ordinary Buffet with copper peptides? I have been hearing amazing things about copper peptides for years.

2nd -Does the Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen lip treatment actual help with collagen in the lip area? Or is it a waste of money?

3rd-Do I need to add Retinaldehyde to my regimen if I’m already using rx Tretinoin cream .1% every night?

4th- if I use the Ordinary glycolic acid 7% toning solution nightly before my tretinoin cream do I need another acid in the morning?

And finally, I use Cerave hydrating facial cleanser for normal to dry skin day and night… Should I add a different cleanser like the First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser at night since it has antioxidants? Or is this cleanser not recommended? Thank you so much!!!! 🤗❤️

  3. I loved hearing what we can do for our sagging skin. The jowl area, and the neck are the areas I like the least on my face. Looks like I need to add to my skincare routine. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, Penny. Blessings, and love, beautiful..MaryEllen

  4. Anne is to you who you are to me ☺️ I could listen to you all day and your Friday Q and A videos are my favorite to listen to in the car.

  5. Thanks, Penn! Surprised you didn't list Copper Peptide by JJ Labs, since you've strongly recommended it before. Also just looking a it from an ROI perspective: LED or Microcurrent? I know they target different things, but both do address the dreaded SAGGING issue. Which would you recommend? Neither are inexpensive, at least not for me – so for me it's an either/or scenario. Thanks so much. Love your channel! Thanks for sharing your truth and your wisdom!!!!!!

  6. Hi Penny! Thank you so much for these tips. I do have a Question for your Friday Q&A video! I have been medical and nano-needling with the Dr. Pen for the past few months with great success THANKS to your helpful videos! My question is…. How should I time my Laser Genesis in-office treatments in between my at-home medical needling sessions (1x month)? I'm afraid that I could destroy my dermis by doing both treatments too close together… How would you time this so I can heal properly between treatments?

  7. Power to you, Penny, for keeping up with all these questions. Here’s mine. I have an infrared sauna. Is this the same infrared that’s in the LED face masks? I ask because I’d like to get a mask that has various color lights, and don’t want to buy the special red LED one (with the IR) unless it would deliver something different than what my sauna gives (mid, far & near). Thanks

  8. Hi Penny. I am currently enrolled in a medical assisting degree. I plan on getting placed in a dermatologist office for my internship.Since watching your channel you have inspired me towards advancing my education towards skin care and cosmetics. I was thinking a esthetician licensee and becoming a certified laser technician would be beneficial. I do know different states have certain requirements and was hoping to get advice on obtaining these certifications at a national level. I like to think ahead and want to satisfy certification and licensure for more then one state. And was hoping you could point me in the right direction with any other education you may find beneficial.

  9. It’s like you read my mind on your topics! Sagging is —by far— my number one skin concern. Jowls and neck issues 😩
I’m also SO glad you mentioned copper and even made product recommendations !! I had read somewhere how powerful it is in fighting aging skin.
Thank you for teaching us so much. You must have to be researching all the time to get your information.
My question is how to use all these 5 recommendations? What goes on the skin first and what can or cannot be mixed? I had read somewhere that vitamin C doesn’t “play nice” with some products. If so, what order do we layer? Can you recommend a skin regimen for everyday of the week- day and night? What I’d really love is a monthly skin regimen with micro needling/facial peel scheduling included. I know that’s asking a lot, but any insight will help. Thanks SO much, Penny. You’re the best! 🥰

  10. Hello Penny!
I just started listening to you and I just want to say wow, you are so enjoyable to watch!!! You explain with such understanding and truly know your shit! Lol
You are so comfortable because you clearly know what you are talking about and have a passion to share it with the world! You are amazing real and relatable.. Just wanted to give u a shout out! Thank you from Chicago!

  11. Thank you for the great skincare tips. I have tried the osmosis retinoldehyde as well as other retinol creams. I slowly built up avoiding the eye areas yet always ended up having the eye areas flared up. Do you recommend the biossanse phyto retinol for someone like me can’t use regular retinol items?

  12. Hi Penn…. love rhis video like all of yours 😙💖
Why there are no budget options for
retinaldehyde on the market??? In case someone has an option please share 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

  13. Really enjoy your channel and love this particular video. I have a question about using the LED mask. Does it diminish the effect if a sheet mask or products are used under the LED mask? I've read conflicting articles and my mask came with minimal instructions. It has built in microcurrent nodules but no instructions for use. I value your opinion. Thanks for sharing your valuable information with us xoxo

  14. Curious about topical ethocyn to help with elastin …. it’s been out for a few years now and I’m curious if it is worth the expense?

Thanks so much for sharing all of your knowledge!!! You’re the bomb! 💣💣💣

  16. Hi Penny – I love your videos!!! I have learned so much. I’ve even started micro needling at home. On LED therapy – I tried a mask but found it too claustrophobic. Do you have any thoughts on the RejuvaliteMD by Trophy Skin?

  17. Hi Penny! Another great video! So informative. Thank you! Hopefully you can answer my questions on the Friday Q+A. Would this skin care regiment be a good preventative measure for someone in their mid to late 30's? Also, can you recommend some really great at home peels, or do a video on it? Thanks so much, and keep rockin!!

  18. HI Penny! Can Copper Peptides be used in the same regime that I'm using Vit C L-Ascorbic Acid? Thank you for sharing your in-depth knowledge with us! Amy

  19. I know that your serums go on before your creams…. but on the AHA’s so after you use it what do you put on after you wash it off? .. I’m thinking you use the AHA’s once every 7 days. Ok then after that what’s good to use that night?.. your C or copper peptides or retinal product? We need to know what to use or not use with each other. Thanks hun you have so much knowledge.

  20. Great video and Collab! I'm 52 and DEFINITELY disgusted by my sagging skin, so thanks for great tips. I'm going to try some Squaline and Copper Peptide. I noticed The Ordinary started to carry a copper peptide, so I'm going to check that out. Thanks, Penny! ❤❤

  21. I’ve been hesitate to buy a led light for home because everything I’ve read has said it’s efficacy is so minimal it’s a waste of money. And I’m only speaking on the home LED’s not the MD office LED’s.

  22. Thank you Penny for a fantastic, informative video! I learned new information from you today and I’m excited about it. I will check out Annie’s channel too. I’m looking forward to your upcoming Q&A.🥰

  23. I thought I posted this morning, but maybe I never hit comment…I've watched your channel before, but am a new subscriber from AnneP's channel. I've put an LED light in my shopping basket and then I take out for months now, lol. I keep thinking I'm trying so many other things, I won't know if the LED is working or if it's some of the other new things I'm trying.

  24. Hi Penny, thank you for your vastness of all of your videos. I truly enjoy them all and feel like I have my own personal aesthetician! I use tretinoin (includes niaminicide and azailecazelaic acid) and 2% OTC hydroquinoine. But my skin is very dry and I am currently using Cerave cream for my face at night and Drunk Elephant's Protini Peptide cream during the day. Is the Biossance cream a good cream for my very dry skin? If not, can you recommend a more occlusive night time moisturizer with squalane? Thank you!

  25. Hi Penny, my question is: How many times per week should we use our LED light and, how much time should we use it? Thank you in advance and just wanted to mention how much I appreciate your work and all the energy you put into this amazing YouTube channel of yours. I love it. Thank you!

  26. Hi Penny, what you think of SeroVital HGH supplement? It is supposed to tighten skin also. My friend swears by it. She said one of the effects she seeing is her hair shedding simply stops. She is experiencing hair loss. I would like to try it but kind of afraid its effect on my melasma. Would this human growth hormone has any effect on melasma? Thanks. Just want to let you know yours channel is only one of the few I watch. I learn a lot from you. Thank you.

  27. Q: many of the LED masks have blue light to use for acne. How does that relate to protecting yourself from blue light from the sun and electrical items such as iPhones and computers? Same thing? Different? Revising blue light recommendations? I am thinking of getting an LED face and neck mask and using it for red light. Any reason to buys more expensive mask? Worth it to get the neck piece?
I realize two different q’s but I’m curious.

  28. Hi Pen, I want to know is squlane ok for oily skin and J want to know if Iuse it before moisturizer or after or serums? Thank you 😘

  29. I keep on thinking whether it is useful to use LED at home (those little masks) . I really cannot go to a salon here 🙁 PS: copper peptides are amazing ! (been using CAIS for a long time)

  30. Love your videos, they are so informative!! Could you please give a bit more direction on the copper peptides? Is there a percent or combination of ingredients we should look for? Also, I know you don’t want to recommend specific brands in the video but could you give a few options of brands? I have not had good luck with The Ordinary as I find their products don’t layer well in me. Thanks again for your time ☺️

  31. Hi Penn, a question about nano needling, can l have it on deeper depth then .25? I found that I can't feel anything penetrating at that depth. So I been doing deeper depth as the nano needles aren't very long. Is that ok? I go as deep as 1 to 2 for vitamin C penetration? Thanks Lisa

  32. Hey Penny! I absolutely LOVE your recommendations! I was using hydroquinone and was not looking forward to the pigment rebound when cycling off. It has happened before. Started using the Tranex serum and JJ Labs brightening serum after ending the HQ and….. I think my skin actually looks even better! Yippee! Thank you so much for the tip!

My next question. I'm super excited about the red LED but I was wondering how to use it. Do you use it on a clean face? After applying a serum? Can you use it if you are using Retin-A since it makes you photo sensitive? Do you recommend a specific product? There are several out there and since it's a little spendy I would hate to buy something sub par just to be disappointed. Thanks so much for your down to earth, sane, valuable information!

  33. Hi Penn! me again 🙂 I was wonderign if you could talk about HOW to incorporate copper into a routine with prescription retinol. Maybe how to include all of these things into a routine? What to do at night and what to do in the am? THANKS!!!

  34. Annie sent me over to you. Thanks for the very informative video. I’m a 60 year old woman with dry skin and lots of texture from living in AZ even though I always use sunscreen. I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you!

  35. I've been using the silk'n titan and have seen positive results. Thank you for sharing 🙋‍♀️💕skincare is so important.

  36. This is such an interesting topic!!! Great information and recommendations! It is a pleasure to listen to you; you are THE BEST at explaining this topics!

  37. Doesn’t red light LED bring out hyperpigmentation of malasma that you’ve worked so hard to minimize. My sister got her malasma to finally to minimize and then she did red light LED THERAPY and her hyperpigmentation worsened. So I’ve been afraid to try it.

  38. Thank´s for a great video. So glad I found you here on YT! I was wondering if it´s possible to wear a SPF on the melasma area when using an LED mask? My mask will arrive tomorrow and I would be so sad if it got worse…

  39. I totally agree that sagging is worse than wrinkles – crows feet don’t bother me at all – never had Botox for that and might never do it. I have had fillers to lift the cheeks and outer frown – that makes me feel older than old. I hate it.

  40. Really informative. Just started using copper peptides, Niod CAIS. It's quite hard to apply as it's very runny. But have noticed a skin improvement.

  41. Hi penn .. time master pro or celluma pro which one do you recommend … I know you have both it would be great if you could talk about them in your Friday video 🦋 🎀 ❤

  42. Love your vids! I hope this makes sense:)) If I add an oil based product over my humectant such as glycerin to help seal in the moisture won’t it in theory, keep the moisture from the environment out – i.e steal the moisture from my deepest layers instead, therefore drying my skin from inside out?

  43. Girl why don’t I have copper yet!!?? And I’ve gotten so lazy!!! I’m gonna do a deeper acid tonight. And the led for sure! This was great sweet friend! Love you!😘😘😘

  44. I have watched your wonderful videos before but I am actually back from AnneP's chanel. Thank you for sharing with us your knowledge and experience.

  45. Great video – all of your videos are honestly so helpful and your knowledge is off the charts. Question – are you familiar with Niod Copper Peptide Serum – this is the one that has been on my list to purchase I keep forgetting about. Ordinary's parent co – any thoughts on this one or feedback from anyone I"d appreciate!

  46. Do you put sunscreen on AFTER serums but before moisturizer? I know thinnest to thicker. At 60 I think I really need those copper peptides! I absolutely love your channel! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  47. Great video Penn! Off topic – can anyone tell me why all my watched (greyed out) YT vids are no longer greyed out ? (& apparently they are no longer marking watched vids) TIA!

  48. Hi Penny, I’ came over from Anne channel and so glad I did. I’m sixty and have milia too. What do you suggest. Is like to buy several products but…. not buy “everything “. So, that said what would you advise. Is Differin something I should add to my skin care for this problem. Thanks so much.

  49. Hi Penn, I had microneedling today, Botox and filler in my jowls and cheeks. I have asked you questions before, I’m 76. I really like the lady that did these procedures. I told her about your channel. I have really learned so so much from you so I know what to expect from treatments. Her numbing cream was so so great, I didn’t feel a thing. She said it was 400%. The nano needles she used didn’t leave any spots on my face like other ones I had done did. I’m really not needing any thing answered today just wanted to let you know how much I love your channel and all the information you give us. Great video today, HUGS Karen

  50. Hi Penny . . . Love your videos. My question is with red led light therapy and melasma. I’ve read green light is helpful with hyperpigmentation and red led light can exacerbate hyperpigmentation. Can you give your thoughts on this please.

  51. I have dr pen and a tripollar radiofrequency machine. I should be using rf every week but since I begun microneedling I prefer to leave it for that 1 every four weeks day when after rf I do medical needling just in case using rf more often would disrupt the fares of wound repair and collagen build up. However a friend of mine esthetic ian insists that she has seen better tightening results with microneedling alone in her clients. What is your opinion on this particular problem?

  52. Hi what do you think about the revive dpl LED. They have it on the FSA store so we can buy it with our health care spending account
