Welcome back! You’re watching Ship Shape TV,
home improvement made easy. What we have here, John, is really heavily
tarnished and corroded marine brass and copper antiques. This is Olie Jentzchs. He is the President
of Flitz and we have some brass and copper here, my friend, that’s pretty heavily oxidized.
How can we remove it and how can we protect these metals from oxidizing again? Okay, one
of the newest things from Flitz is what we call Instant Brass and Copper Tarnish Remover.
Is this an acid type of material? Well it works very quick but it’s not acid. It’s made
of salt! So if you notice how I use it in my hands here, it’s a very safe product. Simply
just spraying it on this brass, you have an instant result. What can we use to keep brass
and copper from re-tarnishing again? Well that’s a where traditional Flitz Polish comes
in. Flitz Polish is not only a polish, it’s a cleaner and a protectant all built into
one. It carries a bees wax product, it leaves a protective coating for up to four or five
months. Okay, I want everyone to take a look at this
copper and brass antique diver’s helmet. Okay, there’s a lot of oxidation, I know that we’re
going to need to use the Flitz Instant Brass and Copper Tarnish Remover, we rinse it with
water, but there’s a lot of nooks and crannies here, my friend. What do you guys make that
we can get in there and make this project fast, quick and efficient? You can use a cloth
or microfiber towel if you wish. But Flitz also manufactures a buffing ball. These are
made of viscose felt out of Germany. This is washable and has thousands of these fingers.
They get into all the nooks and crannies within seconds versus by hand. The best part, John,
this buffer has a shaft like this here and it’s built right into the tool. When this
buffer gets dirty, just simply close up the Velcro put it right in the wash machine. That
part protects the washing machine? Exactly, as well as the shaft for the drill. Where would these products be available? We’re
available through West Marine, Discount Marine Mart, you can check your local marine retailer.
