You’ll Never Buy Jewelry From This Company EVER Again After Watching This

HUNDREDS OF FORMER EMPLOYEES
AT STERLING JEWELERS, THE PARENT COMPANY OF JARED AND
KAY JEWELERS, ARE ALLEGING SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN A
CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT WILL
GO THROUGH ARBITRATION RATHER THAN THE REGULAR COURTS BECAUSE
OF AN AGREEMENT THAT THEY SIGNED AS EMPLOYEES WITH THE COMPANY;
HOWEVER, THE DETAILS OF THIS STORY ARE PRETTY INSANE,
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER HOW LONG THESE ALLEGED SITUATIONS
WERE TAKING PLACE WITHIN THE COMPANY, AND ALSO HOW MANY
VICTIMS, OR WITNESSES, ARE INVOLVED. DECLARATIONS FROM ROUGHLY 250 WOMEN AND MEN WHO WORKED AT
STERLING FILED AS PART OF A PRIVATE CLASS-ACTION ARBITRATION
CASE ALLEGE THAT FEMALE EMPLOYEES AT THE COMPANY
THROUGHOUT THE LATE 1990S AND 2000S WERE REMOVED ñ
WERE ROUTINELY GROPED, DEMEANED, AND URGE TO SEXUALLY CATER TO
THEIR BOSSES TO STAY EMPLOYED. THIS LAWSUIT WAS FILED BACK IN
2008, AND IT HAS BEEN A VERY SLOW PROCESS, AND IT WASN’T
UNTIL NOW THAT THE PRESS HAD ACCESS TO SOME OF THE
DOCUMENTS INVOLVED IN THIS CASE. SO THIS IS WHY IT’S COMING UP
TODAY, AND WE’RE GETTING MORE DETAILS ABOUT WHO WAS INVOLVED
AND WHAT THE ALLEGATIONS ARE. THE CLASS ACTION CASE NOW
INCLUDES 69,000 WOMEN, WHO ARE CURRENT AND FORMER EMPLOYEES OF
STERLING, WHICH OPERATES ABOUT 1500 STORES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE STATEMENTS ALLEGE THAT TOP
MALE MANAGERS DISPATCH SCOUTING PARTIES TO STORES TO FIND FEMALE
EMPLOYEES THEY WANTED TO SLEEP WITH, AND PUSHED FEMALE
SUBORDINATES INTO SEX BY PUTTING BETTER JOBS. TOP EXECUTIVES, INCLUDING MARKER
LIGHTS, NOW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF SIGNET JEWELERS, WERE AMONG
THOSE ACCUSED OF HAVING SEX WITH FEMALE EMPLOYEES AND
PROMOTING WOMEN BASED ON HOW THEY RESPONDED TO SEXUAL
DEMANDS. APPARENTLY THE COMPANY ALSO HAD
AN ANNUAL MANAGERS RETREAT, WHERE ATTENDANCE WAS ABSOLUTELY
MANDATORY, AND THEN DURING THESE MEETINGS THERE WAS ALSO IT’S OF,
ALLEGED, BAD BEHAVIOR. MULTIPLE WITNESSES TOLD
ATTORNEYS THAT THEY SAW LIGHT BEING ENTERTAINED AS HE WATCHED
AND ENJOYED NUDE PARTIALLY UNDRESSED ñ NEW AND PARTIALLY
UNDRESSED FEMALE EMPLOYEES IN A SWIMMING POOL, ACCORDING TO
A 2013 MEMORANDUM. WE’LL SEE HOW THIS GETS
ADJUDICATED, BUT KEEP IN MIND THIS IS ARBITRATION AND NOT
THE REGULAR COURT SYSTEM. THERE IS WAY LESS TRANSPARENCY
IN CASES LIKE THIS, AND ALSO, EVEN THOUGH THE OUTCOME IS
LEGALLY BINDING, IT’S JUST NOT DONE THE SAME WAY THAT WE
ARE USED TO WHEN IT COMES TO REGULAR COURT CASES. BUT, I MEAN, THERE ARE A LOT OF
PEOPLE INVOLVED WITH A LOT OF VERY DETAILED ALLEGATIONS,
AND IT’S CRAZY. AND WE ARE BUBBLY ALSO NEVER
GOING TO SEE A LOT OF THE TESTIMONY, BECAUSE BIG COMPANIES
LIKE THIS, IT’S VERY COMMON AND YOU HAVE WORKERS SIGNED
MANAGEMENT ñ SIGN MANDATORY ARBITRATION CLAUSES, BASICALLY
SAYING IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT TO FILE YOU HAVE TO SETTLE IT
OUT OF THE COURT SYSTEM. THE REASON THEY DO THIS IS SO
THAT THERE IS CONFIDENTIALITY, NO PUBLIC RECORD, AND THAT IS
VERY FRUSTRATING, AND A LOT OF THE LAWYERS ON THE SIDE OF THE
PLAINTIFFS ARE WANTING THE MEDIA TO AT LEAST UNDERSTAND THAT
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE THAT THEY COULD TELL US. THERE IS A MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE
HERE, SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE COME FORWARD, I THINK IT’S LIKE,
69,000 AT THIS POINT. AND EVERYTHING THAT’S
INTERESTING AT THIS POINT, THE SEXUAL-HARASSMENT IS GOING TO BE
THE HEADLINE, AND THAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT, BUT IT’S REALLY THE
TIP OF THE ICEBERG TO GROSS MISHANDLING OF AFFAIRS WITHIN
THIS COUNTRY ñ WITHIN THIS COMPANY, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALSO
TALKING ABOUT HOW WOMEN WERE NOT RECEIVING AS MUCH AS THEIR MALE
COUNTERPARTS, SO THERE IS A LOT TO DIVE INTO IN THIS STORY. GUYS, GUYS, IT DOESN’T EXIST. THE MYTHS ARE LARGELY FRIVOLOUS. THIS IS A MOVEMENT IS LARGELY
FRIVOLOUS, ACCORDING TO EVERY CONSERVATIVE PUNDIT ON THE
PLANET, INCLUDING TOMI LAHREN. THEN YOU SEE THINGS LIKE THIS. IF 69,000 PEOPLE CAME OUT TODAY
AND SAID THEY LIKE TO EAT THEIR STAKES WELL DONE WITH KETCHUP,
IT WOULD BE A NATIONAL STORY. WHEN IT COMES TO 69,000 PEOPLE
ALLEGING ANY KIND OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT, YOU COULD JUST PUSH
THAT STORY DOWN, LIKE GRACE SAID, AND GAG IT AND NOT TALK
ABOUT IT. WHAT’S IRONIC IN THIS CASE IS
THAT THIS IS KAY JEWELERS, EVERY KISS BEGINS WITH K, THE
DIAMOND INDUSTRY, IT’S CORRUPT FROM THE BOTTOM UP. WHEN YOU BUY SOMETHING AS
SIMPLE AS A PIECE OF JEWELRY, LITERALLY ESTIMATE AS YOU’VE
SIGNED THE PIECE OF PAPER, IT’S 50% DEPRECIATED ALREADY. SO, YES, THAT’S KIND OF A
SEPARATE ISSUE. I KNOW. I’M JUST SAYING EVERY PART OF IT
IS CORRUPT. IT IS, BUT I WANT TO GO BACK TO
A REALLY GOOD POINT THAT YOU MADE ABOUT HOW CONSERVATIVES
SEEM TO THINK THAT THESE ISSUES ARE NON-ISSUES. THE ONLY TIME THEY TAKE
SEXUAL ASSAULT, OR SEXUAL-HARASSMENT, OR ANY OF
THAT SERIOUSLY, IS WHEN IT GOES ALONG WITH THEIR AGENDA. SO, WHEN IT COMES TO BARRING
TRANSGENDERED INDIVIDUALS FROM USING BATHROOMS THEY IDENTIFY
WITH, WE HAVE TO PROTECT THE WOMEN! BUT WHEN IT COMES TO RAPE OR
SEXUAL ASSAULT ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES, WHEN IT COMES TO THIS
TYPE OF BEHAVIOR WITHIN COMPANIES, WHEN IT COMES TO
THINGS LIKE THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT, WHICH WOULD
PROTECT WOMEN AGAINST A MYSTIC VIOLENCE, THEY ARE NOT IN
FAVOR OF THINGS LIKE THAT. BUT WHEN IT’S CONVENIENT TO
THEIR BIGOTRY, ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY’LL USE WOMEN AS
PROPS. AND ALSO MAKE UP FACTS, AND
INCORRECTLY USE THE WHOLE, TRANSGENDER WOMEN ARE MORE
LIKELY TO BE INVOLVED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CRIMES, WHEN IN
FACT THEY ARE ACTUALLY THE VICTIMS AND NOT THE
PERPETRATORS, WHICH IS ONE OF THE GROSSEST THINGS YOU CAN
DO, HONESTLY. IT’S LIKE SAYING, CATHOLIC
PRIESTS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE INVOLVED IN SEXUAL MOLESTATION
CHARGES, AND MAKING IT SEEM LIKE THEY ARE THE VICTIMS
INSTEAD OF THE PERPETRATORS. FURTHERMORE, TO YOUR POINT ABOUT
NOT PROTECTING THE WOMEN HERE, AND THEY WANT TO JUST MUDDY THE
WATER A LITTLE BIT, THE LEAD ARBITRATOR ON THE CASE, KATHLEEN
ROBERTS, HAS SAID THAT FOR THE MOST PART STERLING HAS NOT
FOUGHT TO REFUTE THIS EVIDENCE. SO THERE IS A MOUNTAIN OF
EVIDENCE THAT I GUESS STERLING, SENSIBLY WE CAN THINK,
DOES NOT REFUTE. THERE IS SOME MERIT TO THIS, AND
THEY ARE JUST SAYING IT’S INADMISSIBLE. IT’S SUCH A STRANGE ARGUMENT,
WE’RE NOT GOING TO REFUTE IT, BUT IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK. THEY HANDLE EACH INSTANCE, NOT
SEPARATELY, BUT IF IT’S AN INTERNAL CLASS ACTION THEY CAN
HANDLE IT, BUT IF YOU’RE MAKING THE LARGER ARGUMENT THAT THIS IS
A SYMPTOM OF THE COMPANY CULTURE THAT THEY HAVE CREATED, AND
FOSTERED AT KAY JEWELERS, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THAT’S A MARGE ñ
THAT’S A MUCH LARGER PROBLEM FOR THEM, AND GIVEN THAT THEY SOLD
$6 BILLION WITH OF JEWELRY LAST YEAR THEY MIGHT NOT WANT TO MAKE
THAT ARGUMENT. RIGHT, IF IT WASN’T 69,000
PEOPLE. IT’S INSANE THAT SIX 9000 WILL SAY SOMETHING AND THEY ARE
LIKE, NO NO. I WANT TO CLARIFY ONE LAST PART
OF THIS STORY, ALL OF THE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST STERLING
ARE NOT ALL AGAINST SEXUAL HARASSMENT. LET’S GO TO GRAPHIC 23 PLEASE. NOT ALL OF THE 69,000 CLASS MEMBERS ARE ALLEGING
SEXUAL IMPROPRIETY. MANY ARE ACCUSING STERLING OF
WAGE VIOLATIONS, ARGUING WOMEN WERE SYSTEMATICALLY PAID
LESS THAN MEN AND PASSED OVER FOR PROMOTIONS GIVEN TO LESS
EXPERIENCED MALE COLLEAGUES. SO IT’S JUST THIS CULTURE OF
MISOGYNY THAT 69,000 EMPLOYEES, BOTH FORMER AND CURRENT
EMPLOYEES, ARE ALLEGING AGAINST THIS COMPANY, AND WE’LL SEE HOW
IT ALL GOES DOWN, BUT I DO LIKE THAT GRACE POINTED OUT THE FACT
THAT STERLING HAS YET TO REFUTE ANY OF THESE ALLEGATIONS WITH
ANY EVIDENCE, AND THEY ARE JUST DENYING THAT THEY HAVE A
CULTURE OF MISOGYNY. THAT’S ALL WE’VE HEARD FROM THEM
SO FAR.

  1. I'm not trying to judge or anything… But, the whole disproportionate head to body ratio with that guy in the middle is so distracting! 👀 Every time he talks I keep trying to adjust my screen and can never follow the story. There's so much hair and girth going on everywhere… it's hard to focus. He always looks so oily and sticky as if he just rolled out of bed from a 3 day bender. I just want to blast him with a pressure washer and some dishwashing liquid or something… Is he stoned? What exactly is he? 🤔

  2. Hah!  Doesn't surprise me.  The television ads that Jareds & Kay jewelers run, just have always had a sleazy, slimy aspect to them.

  3. Since the management was so dishonest in these aspects of their behaviors, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it comes out that the jewelry companies were equally dishonest when dealing with the public.  CZ in place of diamonds, anyone?

  4. Damn ana is fake af. Fake eyebrows, fake nose, fake hair color, fake enthusiasm. Holy shit who still watches tyt?

  5. Please fire your current failtastic title-writers. You must have hired them from Upworthy or Buzzfeed. UGH. -_-

  6. No one said that sexual discrimination doesn't exist. The argument is that the pay gap, as a whole in our economy, has been debunked and it is more closely tied to an EARNINGS gap which is very different. However, of course there are instances of it still happening, in which case IT NEEDS TO BE REPORTED. Don't bitch about it if you aren't going to actively do something to fight it. Start initiatives to help women (or even men) report misconduct to the right authorities, but I almost NEVER hear that out of anyone. Stop pointing fingers at all men in business just so you can bitch about something that is over-inflated and debunked. Promote ACTION in the instances like this when it does happen.

  7. love the title. yup because the sexual harassment should make people not buy from this company. not the child slavery or blood diamonds. smfh.

  8. Add to the mix that in arbitrations such as this, the arbitrator is always chosen by the company and are almost always ruled in their favor (Surprise!). Also, there is no appeal or review for arbitration decisions.

  9. Why are you buying jewelry in the first place? You don't need it, and the level of human cruelty involved in acquiring those diamonds is appalling.

  10. Might want to change the title if I saw the title and didn't know the source my scam / spam / fake news meter would be going off like crazy

  11. Stop signing arbitration. If you're on Medicare and you switch Advantage Plans, send back the opt out card for arbitration. You are waiving your right to sue if you are done wrong in any way.

  12. How did Hasan get a job at TYT. He misquotes this story (69,000 people did not come forward they are named because they worked there at one time) Ana is trying to save him from his misguided comments but he won't shut up.

  13. Is this guy mentally special? Most liberals are against modern "feminism" these days; it has nothing to do with conservatives any more. Thats what happens when you've been under a rock for 5 years.

  14. Anna does it seem to like Hasan Piker and he is an Beep he is an Jerk why did they Hire him is he really someone son or brother because he SUCKS

  15. So, it all comes back to consenting or rebelling, not high morale… Which is best, for productivity ?
What has to happen, to be paid according to our quantifiable value and contributions, to a business?
When do Americans get to experience a true, free market, especially as co-contributors ("employees")?
Why does the kiosk at your job refer to you as " bus boy", not "busser"… The same reason you don't get hourlies for showering?
Ever try to operate, or patronise a business, which is brimming with one, stinky employee?

  16. So they offer women protection from disciplinary action and promotions for sexual favors but also don't promote them as much? Are the women all saying no?

  17. It would be interesting to see what political party the offenders were registered as at the time. It would also be interesting to see the political party of the victims at the time and at the time of the law suit. one more point is, if asked, how many of the victims gave in because they were receiving jewels they kept handling and looking at over and over again.

It is working in a jewelry an diamond porn shop for the greedy. If management hear employees talking and saying stuff like, "If I had a man letting me pick out…" or "If someone was giving me…" It is easy to see how deals are made and upper and lower management have a school of like minded fish to skim from.

I am not saying it is right, I am saying that it came about maybe because of certain circumstances and people manipulated by their desire to… (whatever) and someone is there to fulfill it, or has the ability to fulfill it. In most people, human nature is always on the lookout for it's self in one way or another. In the end everyone is guilty of something because none are righteous, no not one.

I can also see how an environment around decadent and lustful pleasures items could easily develop where upper management pass girls down to lower management and so the lower management report back on people they think fit the the bill, as it were. They get a current girl drunk and in the sack with a lower manager and the upper manager can dump her and go after the new target. This is how the judge and lawyers are talking about it behind closed doors as they make plea deals. i still would like to know their political leanings and see how the numbers work out as to how many of them are liberal or conservative.

  18. Hasan! This rant, about kay, steaks, and the diamond industry, was a turning point for me to stop skipping your videos. I'm not into jewelry but, Props.

  19. A lot of company contracts now go through arbitration instead of going through the courts because it favors the company.

  20. Great! Since they won't be transparent, let's all just assume the worst and never do business with them again and see if they get the message.

  21. Less click baity story titles. But, props on talking (finally) about how screwed up the jewelry industry is.

  22. The fact that Americans can sign away their right to have a grievance tried in a court is an abomination of law that should be corrected. While these arbitrations serve too valuable a role in reducing the workload of courts for them to be simply abolished, there needs to be a significant review of the rules that govern them in order to bring their processes more in line with that of an actual court. The fact that corporations can use arbitrations to obscure any accountability for their actions is obscenely unjust and a cancer to democracy.

  23. Diamonds aren't rare, diamond's value is propped up by an international monopoly. Don't waste your money on a diamond ring, buy your fiancé to be a ring with ANY other precious stone, ruby, emerald, sapphire, etc and it will actually have value.

  24. Let's be honest if people don't care about where these diamonds came from, and horrible things that the workers who get paid barely enough to feed them self's for a day had to go through to find this they won't give a shit about sexual harrasment.

  25. KAY Jewelers and what other companies? Sterling supplying for which "mall jewelry"stores? THAT is what buyers want to know!

  26. Title assumes I buy jewelry & shop at Sterling. TYT staff, don't project your self-hatred for buying all those blood diamonds.

  27. So the fact that thousands die to mine the diamonds is no problem, but sexual harassment is boycott worthy? Apparently an American getting groped is worse than an African being starved, tortured and worked to death. I bet that African would switch places in a heartbeat, though.

  28. I worked at Jared's the pay difference between women and men is completely accurate. The management team would also talk about the nearly 200% mark up on diamonds. Sterling owns over 80% of ALL the diamond mines in the world and only allow so many diamonds into circulation each year to keep the price up.

  29. Arbitration is a crock. Corporate 'justice'. They (the americano-multinationals) are trying to impose that garbage in Europe now. With their big bucks and overwhelming presence among lobbyists at the European Union (like more than 2/3 of lobbyists), I sure hope they don't get what they want. This aplies to so many other things, too, where they've brought down standards and/or imposed conditions that favor US (mal)practices over Euro traditions of taste and quality.

  30. We conservatives DO want to protect women.

We just aren't willing to allow you leftists ram any law you want up our asses "in the name of protecting womyn from tha patriarchy!"

  31. Who buys jewelry in this day and age? To me the very concept of putting rare metals and diamonds on your body feels very outdated. I think people put on jewelry because they think, that if they didn't there wouldn't be anything left, that is appealing to others. Sometimes I still see really old women with tons of it, also wearing pelt, and I don't care, they're from another time.

But now that I'm looking at Hassan's hands, I think he's such a goofball.

  32. femisim is poisonous but to ignore so many charges of sexual misconduct is bad, frankly the way we treat people period is just embarrassing.

  33. Just don't buy jewelry period. We have some neighbours, brothers, sisters who can't feed themselves. Why would anyone waste money on little stones?

  34. To the person who writes titles for this video, Please don't tell us what We will or will never do after we watch a video! and I also dislike the click bait "This Company" instead of naming the company in the title.

this story was more interesting then the Click bait title you gave it.

  35. Ho hum. Alleged. Do you know what that means. It must be a slow news week. I smell a hairy feminist behind this whipped up frenzy.

  36. This is absolutely ridiculous not true I'm a Sterling employee and a female. In no way have I ever felt sexually discriminated against. I've also had an opportunity to move up very fast in the company.

  37. As someone who is currently at a job where I am sexually harassed by a 70 year old man(im working getting out) I know that this is too frequent and from experience it is really hard to do anything about it. Lawyers wont even return my call because small businesses have so many laws protecting them. Laws made by men. And I cant just quit because of the lovely lack of welfare in this country I would not be able to pay my bills. So Im stuck.

  38. Unfortunate. I work at Jared and have never encountered this. Use to work for a suit company when I was 18 and sure did get harassed there. By employees AND customers 😒☹️

  39. Sorry, folks, but managers are completely within their rights to not pay or promote "employees" as they choose. They can come up with any excuse/reason they like to support their decision, and it will stick. Sucks, but it's true. I have worked in both the private sector and for a govt agency, and I can tell you that dirty, incompetent, crooked managers are EVERYWHERE!!
